Learn from the creator of PHP at the next #HasMeetup!
Rasmus Lerdorf will be speaking at the next #HasMeetup about the state of PHP heading into 2012 and how it fits into a progressive technology stack. On top of that, we'll have Tim Juravich, one of the leading architects specializing in PHP, Ruby, and open source database technologies.

Lerdorf
Known for creating and getting the PHP project off the ground in
1995, Rasmus has been a core contributer and advisor to numerous open source projects. In 2003, he was named in the MIT Technology
Review TR100 as a top 100 innovator in the world under the
age of 35. Rasmus was most recently an Infrastructure Architect at Yahoo! for more than 7 years
before joining WePay in 2010. He was born in Greenland, grew up in
Denmark and Canada, and has a Systems Design engineering degree from the
University of Waterloo.
Topic: Rasmus will discuss the state of PHP
in 2011 and how it fits into the existing and progressive technology stack, followed by an
overview of PHP development best practices (Developer Do's and Don't Do's). He will also
discuss new and upcoming features in PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4.
Tim Juravich
Tim has
architected and led development teams through a variety of projects in PHP,
Ruby, and .NET. After gaining experiencing at several Fortune 500 companies,
Tim discovered entrepreneurship and founded three of his own startups. Tim
currently serves as Co-Founder and VP of Engineering for Playmark, the fastest
way to get official deals with the biggest names in professional sports. Tim's
upcoming book on PHP and CouchDB web development will be available early next
year from Packt Publishing.
Topic: Tim will discuss why and when to implement MySQL
vs. NoSQL solutions, pulling from his experience on current and past
development projects. This discussion content will also pull from the
book he is writing about CouchDB which will be released in 2012.
